The new 16GB Eye-Fi Pro X2 wireless SD card is now Class 10, meaning its read/write speed is now a blazingly fast 10 Megabits per second. Wi-Fi transfer speed of course will depend on network speed. This card reads and writes faster; this speed boost has nothing to do with Wi-Fi transfer speed.
The new Eye-Fi card is twice the storage size of the previous 8GB Pro X2 which was only Class 6, 6Mbps read/write. The good news is that with the release of the new 16GB card, which will retail for $100, the old 8GB version will now have a reduced price of $80, down $20 from its old price of $100.
With an Eye-Fi card, the photographer may be able to upload photos from anywhere to their home computer, smartphone or tablet, either connecting wirelessly to the device with Direct Mode or over an authorized WiFi network.
