As a stock photographer, why do you have to upload photos regularly? Because search results are often sorted by age, fresh images come out first. So keep those pictures coming at least every week, not only to keep your portfolio fresh but also to keep your enthusiasm alive.

This is one of the tips offered by photographer Rasmus Rasmussen on how to build a microstock portfolio. In his latest post he also discusses why it’s crucial to find a niche and specialize in a certain genre for your photos.

Rasmus writes, “Specialized photographers sell more images. When designers get to know your work and your niche, chances are they will come to you first, when looking for a photo in your particular genre, and when that happens, you’ve successfully established yourself as a stock photographer, beating out the competition by building a brand name of your own.”

There’s more where this came from.
