The Royal Photographic Society has announced the winners of its 150th International Print Exhibition.

Richard Merritt FRPS took the Gold Award for his photograph of a scalloped hammerhead shark taken in the waters of Costa Rica’s Cocos Island National Park.

A gold medal was also awarded to 19-year-old Chris Charnock ARPS for the “under-25 years” group; he takes home an Olympus-donated E-400 DSLR camera.

The final selection of 125 prints was chosen from over 2,200 images submitted by 600 photographers from 33 countries worldwide. The competition was open to students, amateurs and professional photographers.

The Exhibition will open at Hoopers Gallery in London on 20th June 2007 and will then tour the UK until April 2008.
