Two More New Cameras from Nikon: Coolpix S52, S52c

Nikon Coolpix S52 and S52c Compact Digital Cameras

Together with today’s Coolpix P80 introducttion, Nikon USA also unveiled two more compact camera models, the Nikon Coolpix S52 and S52c, targeted at style-conscious users.

As with the P80, both compacts feature optically stabilized lenses utilizing Nikon’s own Vibration Reduction (VR) technology. The S52 and S52c lenses deliver 3x zoom, equivalent to 38-114mm in 35mm terms.

Like all cameras in the Coolpix line, the S52 and S52c include Nikon’s innovative technologies including enhanced Face-Priority AF, which automatically finds and focuses on up to five faces within the frame; In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, which can automatically detect and correct red eye in a photo; and D-Lighting, which compensates for excessive backlight or insufficient flash in images.

Both cameras share almost identical features, save for the Wi-Fi functionality which is enabled in the S52c. It can send images directly via email through its Wi-Fi connection, as well as support my Picturetown, Nikon’s photo sharing and storage service. Through my Picturetown, users can email pictures directly to friends and family, publish pictures to the photo community sharing Website Flickr, and link their photos to blogs and social networking sites. Pictures can also be sent to the email addresses of a BlackBerry device for viewing.

The 9-megapixel Coolpix S52 and S52c will be available in the U.S. in May, retailing at $250 and $280, respectively.
