TrustedReviews.com’s First Look at Lightroom 2

“This is by no means a full and finished product, but it’s coming along nicely thank you very much,” writes Jamie Harrison of TrustedReviews.com on the beta version of Adobe’s Photoshop Lightroom 2. “Adobe has listened to users and by letting them continue to try the beta is sure to provide a very useful and elegant imaging solution on final release.”

Among the new features of LR2 is its support of 64-bit processing being offered by the latest processors and operating systems; it is also now able to utilize over 4GB of RAM.

The Export dialogue of LR2 allows you to export files (for example, JPEGs from the Raw original) to the original folder, and then stack those with the originals, making file organization much easier.

Another major improvement is the ability to edit files in Photoshop without first making a TIFF or PSD file; while that was a sensible way of working and keeping destructive and non- destructive editing separate, it was slow.

Lightroom 2 now also supports multiple monitors for users of dual displays. There’s been some enhancements also in the Library, Develop and Print modules.
