UK photographer Tim Hetherington has won the top prize of the World Press Photo of the Year 2007 competition. His winning photo of an exhausted American soldier in a bunker in Afghanistan “shows the exhaustion of a man and the exhaustion of a nation,” said jury chairman Gary Knight.
