Tamron will launch a digitally integrated 70-300mm lens for the Nikon D40/D40x DSLR in Tokyo on February 1, 2008. This is a new version of their popular telephoto macro zoom.

The new lens is a redesign of the popular Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1: 2 (Model A17NII). It will have built-in motor for the Nikon D40 and D40x models.

The lens construction consists of 13 elements in 9 groups and it will have a minimum focus distance of 1.5m or 59” in normal setting and 0.95m (37.4”) in macro mode.
