Tamron Launches First Anti-Shake VC Lenses

Tamron AF 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC Macro Zoom Lens

Tamron has thrown its hat in the shake reduction derby, with two lenses for starters. The AF 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC, shown above, and 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro lenses are the first to be equipped with Vibration Compensation (VC), Tamron’s term for its in-lens shake reduction mechanism.

More than a different term, it’s a different lens-shift system altogether as it uses a triaxial configuration with three pairs of driving coils and slide balls around the compensator group of the lens’ optical system to move the lens optical system and compensate for camera shake.

The 28-300mm lens offers 1:3 magnification throughout the zoom range, low-dispersion and anomalous dispersion glass elements to cut distortion unique to digital sensors. The 70-200mm lens, on the other hand, offers high-end features including f/2.8 wide aperture throughout the zoom range, internal focusing, and macro magnification of 1:3.1. at f=200mm.
