Sony Reveals Details of Their Own CompactFlash Cards (Ho-Hum…)

Sony CompactFlash Card

Sony has revealed details of their new CompactFlash card lineup. While not really offering anything new, the new Sony CF cards will meet the speed and performance requirements of digital SLR cameras.

Sony will be offering two 133x speed cards with capacities of 2GB and 4GB and a data transfer rate of 20MBps. There will also be three 66x speed cards (1Gb, 2Gb, 4Gb) with a read speed of 10MBps and a write speed of 9MBps.

Sony says their new CF cards come with a 5 year warranty. In addition, the 133x transfer speed models are supported by Sony’s image recovery service.

The Sony CompactFlash cards will be in stores starting May 2007. Price? One hopes Sony surprises us with competitive pricing; not too low, but not their usual sky-high price tags for their proprietary Memory Sticks either.
