Photo sharing site SmugMug is sponsoring a series of free workshops, Capturing the Spirit of Photography, to be conducted by renowned Bay Area photographer Marc Silber.

The first one will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at 7pm at SmugMug HQ, 67 East Evelyn, Mountain View, CA 94041. If you wish to join this, let them know via an RSVP here.

Marc Silber has been a professional photographer for 40 years and he loves to teach photography through his workshops and published works. He is a native of the San Francisco Peninsula and a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute (his other famous classmate there was Annie Liebovitz).

SmugMug’s Markham Bennett said, “There isn’t a pro in the field, any field, that won’t tell you that the key to improvement is instruction and practical application. With this in mind, we’re presenting this series of workshops for photographers of all levels. By adding the element of Marc’s workshops we are taking the next step in our in our mission of devotion to priceless photos.”

SmugMug was started by a small family who wants to keep the successful photo sharing site ad-free. Unlike big commercial sites, SmugMug will not require your Aunt Meldita to register before she can view and download your hi-res photos. And they keep your photos the way Fort Knox keeps it gold.
