Sinar Bron to Release Hy6 Medium Format Digital Camera

Sinar Hy6 Medium Format Digital Camera

Sinar Bron Imaging of Switzerland will soon release to the market its Sinar Hy6 medium format digital camera system.

The Sinar Hy6, which received the Photokina Star 2006 award for most outstanding new product, was developed jointly by Sinar, technology firm Jenoptik, and Franke & Heidecke. It is designed to capture images using both digital and conventional film backs, and offers photographers a true 6 x 6cm medium-format size with the flexibility of a 4.5 x 6cm camera.

The company said the Sinar Hy6 is based on an ‘open system’ design and can easily adapt to advancements in future chip technology by allowing the insertion of larger (higher-resolution) image sensors of up to 56 x 56mm.

The Sinar Hy6/Sinarback eMotion 75LV medium-format digital camera system will appear in the U.S. market in mid-July with a suggested catalog price of $32,500. The Sinar Hy6/Sinarback eMotion 54LV will have a $30,500 price tag.
