Shock is Axed

Shock Magazine

The U.S edition of photo magazine Shock has closed down. It has been plagued with problems since day one and never recovered from its troubled launch. Shock’s last issue will be released on December 26.

Shock was a magazine featuring sensational photographs which ranged from compelling international news photos to gross photos of medical anomalies. The pictures were mostly from wire services or editorial stock archives, or else contributed by readers.

“Shock’s performance at newsstands has not produced trends that indicate that we will get the returns that we are looking for,” said Jack Kliger, president of Hachette Filipacchi Media, the magazine’s publisher.
