SB-400 Flash for the Nikon D40

Nikon SB-400 Speedlight

To go with the newly announced entry-level D40 DSLR, Nikon also unveiled today the SB-400 Speedlite, a low-end iTTL flash costing just $130.

In keeping with the D40’s ease-of-use philosophy, the SB-400 only has an off-on button for controls. But while it lacks the wireless control of pricier Speedlights, the SB-400 has a guide number of 69 ft at ISO 100, with a shooting range of 2 to 66 ft, which should be plenty for indoor shooting. The flash can be tilted in 4 steps, horizontal, 60, 75 and 90 degrees.

Now, even grandpa can join the fun.
