Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8 Goes Underwater

Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8 Video Camera

Sanyo has updated its Xacti line of video cameras with a new model, the DMX-CA8, equipping it with an 8-megapixel CMOS sensor as well as a Face Chaser technology which works with both photos and videos – underwater!

Yes, you can take this model with you underwater, perfect for those swimming pool shots in the summer. The Sanyo DMX-CA8 is waterproof and can stay underwater for up to an hour in depths of up to 5 feet (you can dive up to 10 feet occasionally in short duration, Sanyo says).

The new CMOS sensor allows the camera to take high resolution 8-megapixel still images and record movies at faster frame rates. The fun part is you can take still photos simultaneously while making movies; you don’t have to stop or pause.

The DMX-CA8’s video codec uses MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 at 60fps in VGA.

The fancy Face Chaser function means you can track up to 6 faces in the scene during movie filming, or up to 12 faces for still photos; it automatically adjusts for exposure and focus for easy operation.

The Sanyo Xacti DMX-CA8 video camera will be available next month.
