Sanyo Eneloop Batteries ReCharges from USB Port

Sanyo Eneloop Batteries and USB Charger

Here’s another way to recharge batteries. The Sanyo “eneloop” USB charger can charge two “eneloop” batteries using the PC’s USB connector. The Sanyo eneloop system appears to be proprietary and uses its own eneloop batteries, although an earlier Nov 2005 announcement indicated these batteries to be of NiMH composition.

“Eneloop” is a concept based on recycling, or looping, energy. The charger can recharge two AA size batteries for about 4.6 hours; two hours for a pair of AAA batteries. Charging time is halved when only one battery is charged.

The batteries are pre-charged and can be used immediately after buying. They can then be recharged and used for approximately 1,000 times, and be recycled after being completely used. The Sanyo “eneloop” USB charger will be available from May 21st 2007.
