At CES 2008, Samsung unveiled an ultra-thin (0.8 inch) i8 digital camera, endowed with an 8-megapixel image sensor, 3x zoom and a rather large 2.7-inch LCD screen.
It’s all of 3.5 x 2.3 x 0.8 inches but packs a few more good things like a built-in PMP with an integrated MP3 player. It also features a ‘World Tour Guide’ function which provides instant access to travel information covering 4,500 places in 30 countries. It can also shoot SVGA (800×592) MPEG-4 video and features advanced editing controls.
The Samsung i8 camera is equipped with a rather lame digital image stabilization which combines with an ISO setting of up to 1600 to aim for crisp images without a flash.
But the LCD monitor is a nice touch. It automatically brightens or dims depending on ambient light. Heard it’s going to sell for about $300 next month.
