Ricoh G600: Smaller, Lighter, Tougher (and a Shocker!)

Ricoh G600 Digital Camera

The new Ricoh G600 is water-resistant and dust-resistant. You can take pictures with it in the rain, even underwater photos up to a depth or 3 feet or 1m. Its dust resistance allows you to take it to sandy beaches or take photos of sandstorms in the desert.

Plus, it’s shock resistant; it can withstand accidental drops from about 1.5m high (US Department of Defense “MIL Standard 810F”).

The G600 is a 10-megapixel shooter, a smaller and lighter sibling of the popular 8-megapixel Caplio 500G launched in May 2006.

The new camera sports a large 2.7-inch LCD screen and features a 5x optical wide-angle zoom lens (equivalent to 28-140 mm for a 35 mm camera). The shock-resistant camera will be available in May 2008 at £350, VAT included, (a shocking $700!).
