Review: Fujifilm FinePix F31fd is OK

Fujifilm FinePix F31fd Digital Camera

Personal Computer World of UK says the Fujifilm FinePix F31fd’s touted face detection technology works well in detecting faces and the resulting photos are good overall.

But there’s some niggle about how it goes about with its ISO settings. First, Fujifilm makes much of the camera’s ability to shoot at ISO 3200 although noise inevitably comes in noticeably at that setting.

Second, if you leave it to the camera to decide for you, the F31fd has the tendency to shoot at higher ISO settings than necessary, like shooting at ISO 800 when 200 would have been fine. Switching to manual mode however can override this.

PCW UK says the Finepix F31fd has plenty going for it, and the Face Detection technology is a real bonus – especially for novice snappers fed up with blurred portrait shots.
