Review: Casio Exilim EX-S770 Looks Pretty

“The Casio Exilim EX-S770 is definitely a head turner,” says Ben Stafford of Digital Camera Review after he took it out for a test drive in picturesque Cincinnati.

According to Ben the EX-S770 looks set to be a winner: a stylish and sturdy design, good image quality, great battery life, and a bright, wide format 2.8-inch LCD.

The camera is powered by a 700mAh lithium-ion battery pack, which lasted quite well. Casio claims 200 shots per charge but Ben got to 243 shots before it went almost dead. To charge the camera, you need to plug it into its cradle for 2 hours.

He took some pictures too, and here’s a couple:

Well…the pictures are good enough, yes.

One interesting thing about the S770 is its ability to store files downloaded from a PC. The feature is originally intended for such downloads as tourist brochures that you can view while visiting some spots, but you can download other files as well like Word documents and Excel files.

“If you’re looking for a stylish, ultra-compact/slim digital camera and you don’t need manual exposure modes, the S770 would be a good choice,” Ben concludes.

About the only drawbacks he found were some slightly awkward zoom controls, and a lack of a printed full user’s manual. Ah…Ben, if you need a manual for a little camera like this one, it’s either the GUI is very poorly designed or you’re over fifty years old :)
