RED Cameras Hit Snag; Jannard Admits Bugs, Appeals for Patience

RED One CEO Jim Jannard admits there is a problem with the launch of their EPIC and Scarlet cameras. Apparently, the contractor company that was to make Scarlet cannot continue and Jannard has to find a new manufacturing partner to make those products.

“We have a bug. Seems like a major one. We need your support at a very difficult time. I am asking for that now,” Jannard says in the RED user forum. “We have an army working on this. 24/7. Trust me when I tell you that we have been humbled.”

Jannard promises to keep customers informed, good news and bad. “I have started two companies… Oakley and RED… and have never seen anything like this in 35 years of business. We will get past these obstacles. No question about it. But we are going to need patience from our customers.”

RED cameras promise to never become obsolete because of their modular and upgradable design. They can be used as high end still cameras or movie recorders.
