Picmeta Releases Picture Information Extractor Version 4.2

Picmeta Picture Information Extractor Version 4.2

Picmeta Systems has released its Picture Information Extractor (PIE) v.4.2, a picture browser and viewer that’s strong on metadata management. It extracts EXIF data from JPG and RAW files and allows you to rename them.

Picmeta explains that part of the EXIF header is standardized and contains information such as date and time the picture was taken, shutter speed and aperture or whether the flash was used. A lot of information however, is put into the Makernote block, which is proprietary and normally forces you to use the software supplied with the camera. PIE, however, contains the most extensive Makernote support on the market. With one single tool, you can review pictures with all the metadata from almost any camera.

PIE 4.2 touts its EXIFcare technology which enables the user to edit EXIF data in JPG files, add and delete tags, change capture date/time, lossless rotate and update embedded thumbnails, without destroying the Makernote block.
