Photo Mechanic Reports 35,000 Licenses Sold

Photo Mechanic from Camera Bits

Camera Bits is celebrating a milestone: 35,000 copies sold of their Photo Mechanic photo management software since its release more than 10 years ago. Despite competition from the newer Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Apple’s Aperture, Photo Mechanic reports continued brisk sales among professional photographers.

Camera Bits reported record sales of Photo Mechanic in its most recent quarter and released version 4.6.1 of Photo Mechanic on the sixth anniversary of the availability of version 4.0.

Since its first release in 1998, Photo Mechanic has been a mainstay of professional photographers utilizing software to let them efficiently browse, caption, and manage digital images. Camera Bits said Photo Mechanic is by far the most popular photo editing software used by educational institutions, the U.S. military, photojournalists and major newspapers and news organizations including The Associated Press, which standardized its workflow around Photo Mechanic.
