It’s tentative name is Pentax 645 Digital because its Pentax 645AF mount offers compatibility with existing smc Pentax 645-series lenses.
Its tentative, Pentax said, because this medium-format digital SLR camera is still currently under development. But it will be unveiled at next week’s Photokina trade expo (Sep 26-Oct 1), and that’s for sure, Pentax said.
It added that the Pentax 645 Digital will use the new Kodak KAF-18000CE image sensor, leveraging Kodak’s 9-micron pixel design and color technology for exceptional image quality, sensitivity, dynamic range, and color fidelity. The dual output architecture of the KAF-18000CE enables faster sensor read-out times and therefore increased frame rates.
“With this unique combination of image quality and speed, the KAF-18000CE provides manufacturers an affordable image sensor that is ideal for landscape, fashion, or wedding photography,” Pentax said.
