Pentax Launches White K2000 DSLR Double Zoom Kit in the US

White Pentax K2000 with 2 Lenses

Pentax today launched a limited edition White K2000 entry-level DSLR system with two matching zoom lenses as part of the kit, available in the US only. It’s the same K2000 originally launched last September, only this time it’s wearing a white armor – a white knight to boost Pentax’s downhill campaign.

Pentax said the White K2000 consists of the new PENTAX K2000 body, a white smc PENTAX DA L 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL lens, and a white smc PENTAX DA L 50-200mm F4-5.6 AL lens.

The K2000 has a 10.2 megapixel CCD, a 2.7 inch, 230,000 dot high resolution, wide-view LCD panel, and an ultra compact design that allows one handed operation. Its amateur-friendly features include an Auto Picture Mode, which selects from Portrait, Landscape, Macro, Action, and Night Portrait modes to tailor the camera settings for any photographic situation without having to learn manual settings for DSLRs.

The avid amateur would wish they should have done this to the excellent K200 instead, which Pentax chose to retire. A White Pentax K200 at the price of the K2000; now, there’s a real White Knight!
