Pentax Announces Optio M60 Compact Camera

Pentax Optio M60 Digital Camera

Pentax introduces another compact camera, the new Optio M60, offering a 10-megapixel CCD sensor, 5x zoom, 2.5-inch display and 8 shooting scene modes.

The company said the new camera utilizes an Advanced Auto Picture mode that lets the camera automatically select the scene mode. The Optio M60 is also equipped with a high-speed (0.03 sec) Face Recognition AF & AE function, which is useful when taking photos of people, as it automatically sets the focus and exposure.

It also features what Pentax calls Digital SR (shake reduction) mode which can reduce camera shakes and subject blurring during still-image photography. But what it does really is just boost the ISO (up to 6400) to let more light with a shorter shutter speed, not a sensor-based shake reduction.

Pentax has decided to release the Optio M60 in 3 colors: silver, pink and blue, but has not decided yet how to price the new camera or when to release it.
