Ovolab Rolls Out Geophoto 2.0 Geotagging Application

Ovolab Geophoto 2.0 Photo-Geotagging Application

Ovolab of Torino, Italy today released Ovolab Geophoto 2.0, a major upgrade to its Macintosh application for browsing photos by location. The application organizes photos by location through a three-dimensional representation of the Earth. The user can pan, zoom and fly through the photos using high-resolution satellite images of the planet.

The upgrade adds powerful new features and a revamped user interface, according to the company.

Geotagging photos is much easier, thanks to a new map view which allows precise positioning of photos at street-level detail.

Also new is the ability to match pictures with track points from a GPS device: this powerful new feature makes it extremely easy to pin photos to the exact spot where the shot was taken. Users simply need to bring a handheld GPS unit or a GPS logger with them when taking pictures, and Geophoto will do the rest.

The new version of Geophoto provides tighter integration with iLife ’08 and .Mac Web Galleries. Geophoto supports the geographical coordinates that can be embedded into the photos in a Web Gallery.

Ovolab Geophoto 2.0 is available immediately at the price of $24.95; a trial version is also available for free download.
