Olympus Rolls Out Tougher TG-1 Digicam with Higher Specs

Olympus has launched its new TG-1 iHS tough camera, touting DSLR image quality, best-in-class f2.0 lens and full 1080p HD video.

The Olympus Tough TG-1 iHS digital camera packs a 1/2.3″-type 12MP back-lit CMOS sensor and a TruePic VI processor to deliver high image quality, a 25-100mm equivalant F2.0-4.9 zoom lens, and an optional converter ring that allows the user to add a lens converter adapter, waterproof Fisheye Converter Lens and Teleconverter Lens for use on land or in water.

They made it even tougher this time: the TG-1 iHS is waterproof up to 12m (40ft) of water, crushproof to 220 pounds of pressure, freezeproof to 14°F, dustproof and water-repellant, and shockproof from a height of 2m (6.6ft). $400 when it ships in June 2012.
