Nikon USA Announces New Prime Lens for Nikon D40, D60 DSLRs

AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G Prime Lens

Now a Nikkor prime lens that will autofocus on the Nikon D40 and D60: the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G is a new Nikon standard prime lens with a built-in ultra-compact Silent Wave Motor to ensure fast, whisper-quiet operation, ultra-fast f/1.4 maximum aperture and the ability to focus as close as 1.5 feet, according to Nikon USA.

The company also said that the new lens incorporates a newly developed optical formula that effectively corrects sagittal coma flare and coma aberration, delivering astonishing image quality and allowing more users to realize their creative vision with vivid clarity.

The AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G lens is scheduled to be available at Nikon authorized dealers beginning December 2008 at an estimated selling price of $440.
