Nikon Updates Firmware for D80, D40 DSLRs

Nikon USA has released firmware updates for the Nikon D80 and D40 enhancing the performance of both cameras and fixing a bug or two.

Firmware v.1.0.1 for the D80 allows the electronic analog exposure display to display in the viewfinder when the brightness of the subject exceeds the range that can be controlled by the camera, whether too bright or too dark when shooting in S, A, or P modes. This release also fixes a bug that would freeze the camera if the user attempted to edit an image inside the camera after it had already been edited using a computer.

The D40 firmware v.1.10 certifies the camera for Windows Vista and adds support for the new USB Media Transfer Protocol, MTP. It also fixes some issues like that one that disables the ISO auto feature after a two-button reset operation.
