Nikon’s camera factory in Thailand today terminated the services of 1,500 of its workers citing reduced orders from the United States, Japan and Canada.

Nikon (Thailand) Company said the dismissed workers are subcontracting staff and have worked with the company for less than a year. Nikon officials have promised severance pay for the dismissed workers.

Nikon has four manufacturing plants in Thailand with a total of 8,000 permanent staff and 4,000 subcontracting staff.
