Nikon Recalls Defective EN-EL15 Battery

Nikon has issued a recall for specific batches of the EN-EL15 rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack used in the company’s digital SLR D800, D800E, D7000 cameras and the Nikon 1 V1 interchangeable lens camera.

The batches in question have the letters E and F in their serial numbers, specifically the 9th digit of 14-digit lot number. These units were manufactured in February 2012, began selling in March and are still being distributed in countless outlets up to now.

If you own one, Nikon advises you to immediately stop using it as the defective battery may overheat and deform – a potential hazard to users. Contact Nikon and they will send you a brand new replacement.
