If you plan to buy the Nikon D3 or D300 when they come out in November, there’s a nice accessory that you might also want to consider, the Wireless Transmitter WT-4. It allows you to remotely control your DSLR using a PC.

Ideal for in-studio shooting, the WT-4 works in tandem with the remote-control software Camera Control Pro 2. It enables you to preview and wirelessly transfer images to the computer or to an FTP server when using Ethernet cable.

When using Camera Control Pro 2 with the WT-4 set in PC mode, camera operation can be controlled from a connected computer, convenient in large-volume studio shooting for confirming images on a computer display.

Camera Control Pro 2 also enables adjustment of various settings of Nikon digital SLRs from a computer, and saves them. In addition to the functions of Camera Control Pro introduced in 2006, Camera Control Pro 2 supports various functions of the new Nikon D3 and D300 such as Preview prior to transfer to a computer, Liveview and Picture Control System. Thumbnail display function is also available.
