At $280 MSRP, the new lens offers a compact and lightweight body, about 9 ounces, and offers the natural focal length of 60mm on a DX body like the Nikon D3100 or D5100. It also features a built-in Silent Wave Motor to autofocus on entry level Nikon DSLRs.

The new AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 6.4 inches with 1:1 reproduction ratio. It is expected to begin shipping next month.
