Nikon Incorporated’s new president and CEO Yasuyuki Okamoto (in photo above) looks at all of the Americas – North, Central and South America – as his oyster now; he will be responsible for driving the company’s performance in these regions in the areas of sales, marketing and customer service.
Okamoto said, “Nikon’s operations in the Americas are very important to the success of our company and I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with the team at Nikon Inc.,†which is also known as Nikon USA.
The new CEO had been president of Nikon France SA, during which he developed an aggressive marketing and communications approach that helped the subsidiary successfully gain market share in the region.
The previous Nikon Inc. president and CEO, Toshiyuki Masai, has moved on as president of Nikon Europe B.V.
The overhaul of top Nikon executives comes at a time when a fresh round of intense rivalry with its main competitor Canon is brewing in the imaging industry.
