Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR AF-S DX Lens Review: Buy It

Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR AF-S DX Lens

With good performance at a very low price, the Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR AF-S DX Nikkor kit lens that comes with the Nikon D60 DSLR is a good buy, according to a review by PopPhoto.com.

At $199, this digital-only (DX) lens offers fast and accurate autofocus (AF) thanks to its near-silent SWM focusing motor. Sharpness and contrast are also excellent, said the review.

“Our SQF results closely match those of both the non-VR Nikkor and Canon’s comparable 18-55mm IS kit zoom,” writes reviewer Julia Silber. “DxO Analyzer 3.0.1 tests found Visible barrel distortion at 18mm (0.48%), Imperceptible barrel distortion at 35mm (0.02%), and Imperceptible pincushion distortion at 55mm (0.04%). These numbers far surpass those of Nikon’s 4-year-old non-VR kit zoom, which at 18mm showed Noticeable barreling (1.30%).”
