Memjet Printer Technology Offers Super Fast Printing

There is a new development in printer technology that’s simply amazing because of its speed. Silverbrook Research has unveiled its Memjet printer technology which enables printers to print 5 to 10 times faster than current printers; they have posted videos to prove it, and there is very little reason to doubt what the videos portray: a label printer that spews labels like its coming out of a faucet, photos that come out every two seconds, letter-sized documents printed every second…this is big.

They also show a large format printer (51” width) that swiftly churns out a large color poster, coming out of the printer at 6” to 1ft per second according to the text accompanying the videos. Analysts from printer market research firm Lyra Research Inc. say they have personally examined prototypes of the desktop printers and verified that they work as Silverbrook claims. See videos here.

Aside from speed, the Memjet printer technology also claims lower printing costs, 2¢ for black text documents and under 6¢ for color pages. The Memjet printers hold 50ml ink cartridges, compared to the existing 10ml average.

The trick to its speed is the ‘pagewidth’ format of its printhead which spans the full width of the paper and does not need to shuttle from side to side.

Silverbrook says they intend to market the Memjet printer technology to major printer manufacturers like HP, Canon, Epson, Lexmark and others.
