Max Bittle Wins $10,000 Eddie Adams Scholarship

Max Bittle, a photojournalism student from Southern Illinois University, has won the $10,000 scholarship from Nikon, after he bested 99 other students in the 19th Eddie Adams Workshop in New York.

Nikon is a leading sponsor of the annual Eddie Adams Workshop which brings together 100 selected students to interact with top photojournalism professionals in a four-day barnstorm.

Over the four days, the students were exposed to many types of photography including photojournalism, fine art photography, studio portraiture, underwater work, long-term projects, and conflict photography. At the end of the workshop, each student’s work is evaluated by a panel of judges and awarded prizes.

Bittle’s $10,000 Eddie Adams Scholarship will be used to further his education in the photographic arts. The other major winners are Sonya Hebert who won a 12-week internship at the Dallas Morning News and Debra Gulbas who got a one-week internship at the White House.
