Light Crafts has updated the LightZone photographic workflow software to version 3.2, and it is now available for download.

The update adds RAW support for new cameras like the Canon G9 and EOS 40D; Nikon D300 and D3; Leica V-Lux1; Panasonic FZ18, Sony A700 and the Olympus 510.

LightZone provides a unique visual approach to digital photo editing, allowing you to focus on what you want to do with your photos, not how you do it. According to its designer Fabio Riccardi, “With LightZone I wanted to build a software implementation of the Zone System, a tool that would allow a direct manipulation of an image in terms of zones and light values and thus re-enable the visualization capacity of the human eye and brain.”

Other people argue however that LightZone is an archaic way of working in the digital realm. Still others contend that the application is slow.

There are others of course who just love LightZone, saying it’s made for real photographers and that basing its philosophy on the Zone System is an enlightened decision. It is also easier to learn and use.
