Leica Updates M8 Firmware to Version 1.092

Leica M8 Digital Camera

Leica Camera AG has released Firmware v.1.092 for the Leica M8 digital camera. The company says the new firmware offers improvements based on practical user experience and feedback.

The firmware update modifies the user interface to make it easier and more secure. Also, the color rendition with Adobe Camera has been improved.

Leica says the next version 1.10 of the firmware is in the works, and expected for release by the middle of next month. It addresses the banding and ghosting issues reported by some users last November. Leica calls the phenomenon “magenta-color offset” caused by the M8’s high sensitivity to infrared light and has recommended the use of its own UV/IR filters to alleviate the problem.

These filters are now being sent free of charge to customers who request them.
