Seventy-five percent of professional photographers in the U.S. would still go for film even as they embrace digital, according to a survey by Kodak.
The company said they also did a similar survey in Europe and got the same response, with more than two-thirds of professional photographers saying they still plan to continue using film.
Among the reasons cited were film’s superiority in capturing more information on medium and large format films, creating a traditional photographic look, capturing shadow and highlighting details, the wide exposure latitude of film and archival storage.
Kodak tries to answer the needs of these professionals by continuing to offer film products. The company introduced five new versions this year of its Kodak Professional Portra Films.
