Kingston DataTraveler Flash Drive cum Card Reader

Kingston DataTraveler Flash Drive & Card Reader

It’s a novel solution, a USB flash drive that also reads SD memory cards. The Kingston DataTraveler Reader combines both functions by incorporating an onboard SD/MMC expansion slot for reading nine different Flash memory card formats.

When inserted to a PC, the device appears as two drives; one for the card reader and the other for the USB flash drive. The user can transfer files between them, or between the device and the host PC.

The Kingston DataTraveler Reader supports the SD and SDHC card formats directly, while miniSD, microSD, MMC, MMCplus, RS-MMC, MMCmobile and MMCmicro cards require an optional adapter.

The device is available by the end of March with prices at $20 for the 1GB version and $35 for 2GB. A 4GB DataTraveler Reader will also be available but Kingston hasn’t decided yet on how low it could go with falling flash prices.
