The University of Kashmir in Srinagar, India is exhibiting “Islam: In Britain’s Green and Pleasant Land,” a collection of nearly a hundred photographs that portray the introduction of Islam in Britain, the settlement of Muslims in its different parts, the various features of the life of Muslims in Britain, the lifestyle of Muslims there and the various Muslim communities in Britain.

The photos on display were taken by British photographer Peter Sandres and the exhibition is organized by the university’s International Resource Cell, a unit of the Allama Iqbal Library.

The photographs reflect the general life, media, traditional food, fashion, art and literature, sports activities, politics and the youth and students in various parts of Britain.

Many of the photographs are of second and third generation British Muslims, many of them young, professional and artistic who have no problem with being British and Muslim.
