Hasselblad has announced the highest resolution ever for a camera – 50 megapixels – in the new medium format H3DII-50.
The digital back features the new KAF-50100 CCD chip from Kodak with 4 separate channel readouts which allows the chip to operate at 1 FPS. This chip features 6 micron photo sites, down from 6.8 microns in the 39MP sensor. But Kodak assures that the reduction does not diminish the dynamic range or noise floor.
To coincide with its launching in October this year, Hasselblad has a promo for the new camera. If you buy an HD3II-39 between now and September 30, you can get a free lens of your choice and be able to upgrade your H3DII-39 to the new H3DII-50 at a cost equal to the difference in list price.
