iPhone 4.0 Offers Bunch of Goodies to Photographers

Apple iPhone 4.0

Apple’s iPhone 4.0 has just been launched, offering a bunch of goodies to photographers. First is the iPhone 4.0’s new 5-megapixel camera which makes use of the new backlit-CMOS sensor technology to improve low-light performance and allow for HD video recording. This rear-facing camera is equipped with LED flash and continuous video light. In addition, there is also a front-facing camera for use with video calling over Wi-Fi.

Apple has also included a 5X digital zoom, useless for true photographers, but quite useful for those too lazy to use the foot zoom (i.e., actually stepping up closer to the subject).

Its much touted feature however is the new 3.5 inch Retina display with 960 x 640 pixels – four times as many pixels as the iPhone 3GS. The new screen offers 326 pixels-per-inch, making the screen look as sharp as a traditional paper print, despite contrary claims.

Other features: multi-tasking, 40 percent longer battery life, a new 3-axis gyro, 720p HD video recording, tap-to-focus functionality in video mode and GPS capability. iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS owners may download the free iOS 4 software update and add over a hundred new features to their old phones.

iPhone 4 comes in either black or white and will be available in the US for a suggested retail price of $199 (US) for the 16GB model and $299 (US) for the 32GB model in both Apple and AT&T’s retail and online stores, Best Buy and Wal-Mart stores. iPhone 4 will be available in the US, France, Germany, Japan and the UK on June 24.
