The new multi-touch Apple iPad is a multi-functional device, starting with its ability to be an electronic book reader. But instead of the antiquated black and white display of an eBook reader (as some suppliers recently did), why not make it in full glorious color?
Perfecting that, the iPad is now being marketed as a photo viewer, and it seems to be very good at it, with its 1024-by-768-pixel resolution at 132ppi in a 9.7-inch display.
With the iPad, you can surf the Web, read and write e-mails, watch videos, access the AppStore, download and listen to music, buy and read books, and more. And it’s only half an inch thick.
Wi-Fi models of the iPad are shipping in late March, 3G models in April. The iPad will retail starting at $500.
