A nasty form of computer virus called Mocmex is infecting digital photo frames. It’s a Trojan said to be from China and it purportedly collects passwords for online games. But experts say this malware appears to be designed for bigger attacks.
It is also persistent; Mocmex recognizes and blocks antivirus protection from more than 100 security vendors, as well as the security and firewall built into Microsoft Windows, according to Computer Associates who analyzed the new virus.
The infected frames came from people who had bought them over the holidays from Sam’s Club, Best Buy, Target and Costco. The new Trojan has also been reported in Singapore and Russia.
