Hasselblad H3D Shines Brightest

Hasselblad H3D DSLR

If there is to be a superstar to coincide with this week’s Photokina in Cologne, Germany, it has to be the Hasselblad H3D, the world’s first 48mm, full frame DSLR camera. It’s the star of the show, the Rolls Royce of all cameras, cream of the crop, crème de la crème.

But like the star that it truly is, Hasselblad H3D’s announcement simply says “Hasselblad is ready to introduce” the camera. Where is it? Is it actually at Photokina? Will it ever show up?

And the excitement builds as we wait for the star. In the meantime, we are told that the Hasselblad H3D is built around a ground-breaking new digital camera engine, with a 39-megapixel (!) sensor that holds more and larger pixels, ensuring ultra sharp images without gradation break-ups in even the finest lit surfaces.

Without a doubt Hasselblad H3D will deliver top-notch photography, as it has always done even in the glory days of film photography. How much is it gonna cost? 30, 40, 50-thousand dollars? Make a wild guess, you won’t be very far off.

Tuesday’s announcement of the H3D was made to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Victor Hasselblad, the company’s founder. But who knows? The star camera just might show up at the Photokina.
