Google Buys Photo Search Company Neven Vision

To strengthen its Picasa photo management software and service, Google has recently acquired mobile photo search specialist Neven Vision of Santa Monica, California. Google says Neven Vision brings expertise on automatically obtaining information from a photo, to make it easier for users to find and organize photos.

Neven Vision, which has offices in Japan, Germany, and the U.K., has developed a suite of image-recognition and facial-analysis tools for mobile devices. The tools can be used for marketing, e-commerce, search, security and biometric verification purposes.
