GIMP 2 for Photographers by Klaus Goelker

GIMP 2 for Photographers by Goelker

The GIMP is an open source imaging editing program much like your Photoshop CS2; only, it’s free. Free, as in you don’t pay for it, and free as in freedom. It was developed by the open source Linux community but it also has its Windows and Mac versions.

How do you use GIMP? You can turn to online resources, google gimp and you’re there. Or you can turn the pages of “GIMP 2 for Photographers” by Klaus Goelker, an architect and photographer who has spent years teaching GIMP in his native Munich, Germany art school.

With his book, Herr Goelker will teach you:

  • The basics of image editing
  • The many functions and tools of the GIMP
  • How to make simple adjustments
  • Working with advanced techniques
  • How to work with layers and masks
  • Stitching of panoramic images, and
  • Preparation of high-quality black and white images.

The book comes out this month and will retail at $30. Rocky Nook, publisher.
