The 2010 recipients of grants from Getty Images are photojournalists Stefano De Luigi, Miquel Dewever-Plana, Edwin Koo, Darcy Padilla and Jerome Sessini. The photojournalists will each receive $20,000 to pursue their documentary photography projects:
• Stefano De Luigi, Italy, for “TIA – This is Africaâ€
• Miquel Dewever-Plana, France, for “The Other Warâ€
• Edwin Koo, Singapore, for “Paradise Lost: Pakistan’s Swat Valleyâ€
• Darcy Padilla, USA, for “The Julie Projectâ€
• Jerome Sessini, France, for “So far from God, too close to Americaâ€
Also receiving the Getty grants are student awardees Bryan Anselm, Julie Glassberg, Julia Marie Rendleman and Paris Visone. Each student will eceive $5,000 and editorial support to develop their projects:
• Bryan Anselm, Western Kentucky University, for “A Generation in Limboâ€
• Julie Glassberg, International Center of Photography, for “Bike Killâ€
• Julia Marie Rendleman, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale for “Impact Incarceration at Dixon Springsâ€
• Paris Visone, The Art Institute of Boston, for “Gender Roles and Appearanceâ€
